I'm a gearhead. Installing things like this is typically easy for me. I wouldn't say this was hard, but it was not easy. I installed this on a Craftlander 10' wide pontoon lift with no canopy. I ran into issues that, if I wasn't mechanically inclined, would've stopped me dead in my tracks.

Issues:
1) The Craftlander kit instruction sheet does not explain how to remove the winch wheel. It just tells you to remove it. The problem is that the Winch Wheel center bolt and washer do not hold the wheel on the winch shaft. The wheel is threaded onto the winch shaft. You must remove the bolt and washer, then reinstall the bolt without the washer, then use a ratchet with an extension to keep the bolt from turning while you spin the wheel to thread it off the shaft. Because I'm mechanically inclined, I was able to figure this out, but it took quite a bit of time since it was not obvious. Someone not so mechanically inclined would've been stopped cold by this. Winch Wheel removal should've been explained.

2) The mounting strap has a bend in it and the motor strap has a distinct orientation,but there is no explanation or suitable picture of the required orientations. There is just a picture of their approximate locations on the motor and winch box. I had to install and remove the drive unit 3 times trying out different orientations of the motor strap and the mounting strap until I got the right combination. The orientations of the 2 straps should've been detailed in the instructions. Again, someone not so mechanically inclined would have been easily frustrated by this.

3) The universal battery tray WILL NOT fit on the Craftlander 4500 lb 10' wide lift without modification. The ONLY spot it can go is on the short section of pole right above the winch box, however, the upper winch box nut and bolt interfere with the bracket. Consequently, the bracket must have a relief cut made to eliminate the interference. I didn't have the tools out on the dock, nor the time to make the required cuts, so I just set the battery boxes on the dock for now and I'll install the battery tray later this season when I have time to work on it again.

Other than those issues, most everything worked perfectly once it was installed, other than the bluetooth pairing, which took several tries to make the connection. You have to move quickly to start the pairing immediately after selecting the lift from the list, otherwise it will time out and silently fail.

I ordered a Lift Tech Motor and 24v Solar Kit a week ago and the Solar Kit was on backorder. The folks at Lake Lite called and offered to upgrade my Solar Kit to the next model for free. That speaks a lot to me about their customer service. I then received everything the next day!

Great product. Ordered on a Saturday night and received early Tuesday morning so great turnaround time.

Directions were crystal clear and I should have read them before I started (typical guy right?!). Took out the existing drive bolt, but after exerting all my strength getting out the cotter pin I found out I didn’t need to. Whoops
