This is a great product from a great company. The lights are a bit expensive, but considering the ease of installation and the fact they are solar-powered, I think well worth the price. One pack that I bought had one bad battery, but the issue was quickly resolved with a phone call.

OK friends, I contemplated putting these into a brand new bulkhead and composite dock just installed $$$. So my pilings are spread out 10' from one another and I decided to put 1 light in the center, totaling 7 lights.

I placed them 6 1/2 inches away from the edge and behind the running board of the bulkhead because I didn't want the bottom of the light to be shown on the water side (deck sticks out like 4" past runner)( lights are only like 2" tall). Lights are pretty flush and maybe stick up a quarter of an inch and hardly noticeable. you wont trip over them by any means and even if you step on them with bare feet you will not stub your toe as they are rounded.

I used a 1 & 3/8" speed bit that worked very well on the composite decking. The lights didn't fit snug where I feel if water was to rise they would pop out, however, they slide right in where I can use my finger nail to pull them up. I may try to use a little clear silicone to hold them down where I can maybe pry them up if I need to remove them for either the winter or to replace the battery.

I was going to use 2 lights between each piling and close to the pilings themselves, but didn't want light shown on the pilings (make sense?).

Anyways, I have to say that I think they look great. A Nice faint look to them. Not to bright and not to dim. Just right to outline the edges or a pathway. Will get more to do my outdoor stairs.

Also, I ordered these a few months ago and they stayed in the box until today, which I thought the battery would not have stayed charged. Have to say that all 8 worked after a few hours on a cloudy day. I expect that the lights will last a while considering the price.

I used one light to put into the picnic table where the umbrella would be and it sat flush.

After 6 years we had a couple of lights that even with a new battery did not work. Bought a 4 pack, replaced 2 and have 2 spares. We have a total of 18 that light up the dock edge at night. They are very functional and look perfect.
